The Dutch government has agreed with social network operators to set up a new contact point to help children dealing with bullying on the sites. State secretary Sharon Dijksma is working with the Independent Platform for the Information Society (ECP) to discuss issues such as identity fraud among minors online with companies including Google, Facebook and Twitter, the minister for economic affairs said in a note to parliament. This followed questions from the MP Bart de Liefde in December about a number of cases of misuse of identity and bullying among minors on social media. The help line Meldknop.nl will offer a special address for dealing with such cases, when users are unable to resolve problems through the social networks' own resolution mechanisms. Meldknop.nl will coordinate with the companies involved.
